The Laboratory was established to conduct research and development on computer-based methods that can be used in education and research in the fields of history and other social sciences. Kaynakca.info (Kkynakca.hacettepe.edu.tr), a web based platform developed within this framework, is used by students and researchers from all over the world, mainly in Turkey.

• Kaynakca.info: Turkey Bibliography
Kaynakca.info is based on research-based education instead of classical lecture-based teaching in higher education. It is designed to prepare, manage and analyze comprehensive bibliographic citation indexes of social science publications on Turkey. The content of the system is developed from the voluntary cooperation network model.
However, a new and improved version of this system is needed. If this is done, the system has the potential to be used as an exemplary system in higher education in all of Europe. As a matter of fact, the system has tripled in April and May 2020, when the number of daily users was around 2000 when normal face-to-face training was carried out.
By using this system, the communication between the instructor, students and students is carried out entirely through this system. More importantly, basic research processes related to a project such as literature review, data entry, data cleaning and analysis are largely based on this system. All transactions made by students during these processes are automatically recorded by the system. Thus, it creates a database that grows every year. This is a new approach.
Transactions performed by students, such as data entry and data cleaning, appear dynamically as lists and numerical totals in the resource.info profiles. These are also used by the instructor for grading. Thus, in distance education programs and courses, assessment and evaluation methods are not only used with exams; It is fictionalized in a way that spans the process.
Some of the other functions of the system used in the field of education are as follows:
The first is to create lecture reading lists (bibliographies) or to recommend existing bibliographies to students.
Unlike classical reading lists, these bibliographies can access not only the title of the work, but also the full text of many works and some other supplementary information: Author's resume, other works of the author, statistics, citations, comments, likes and shares on social media. The system makes a ranking based on the number of views, with a clue as to which work should be read first.
Secondly, course communities can be created and processes such as communication about the course, assignment and evaluation can be carried out through these communities. At this point, the societies I formed for the courses in Methods and Techniques and Ethics in History of Science and History Research at undergraduate and graduate levels can be given as an example.
In this second community, for example, as I am communicating with the students as part of the course, I also ask students to upload their visa assignments here. Just as I evaluate these assignments myself, I ask the students to evaluate each other's homework: They do this by marking the related assignment as I like it, I don't like it. Educational scientists call this type of assessment peer assessment. This community has been like the memory of the lesson for the last four years. It is possible to see the change or progress achieved in the course over the years. Moreover, the ethical assignments made within the scope of the course have already become the most comprehensive archive in Turkey on ethical violations in historical research.
Third, multiple choice questions can be prepared on any topic and students can be asked to answer them. More interestingly, students may also be asked to prepare such questions and / or to answer the questions prepared by their friends and to evaluate the quality of the question as 'I like it / I don't like it'. Educational scientists call it learning by participating and learning by doing. It is also possible to access information about previously prepared questions on the same page: Who prepared the question, when it prepared it, how many times it was answered correctly or incorrectly, who liked it, who did not. Questions must be prepared in relation to a work (article, book, conference paper, thesis). This means: If the question is answered incorrectly, the related work must be read in order to find the correct answer. Sample questions can be accessed from the "Questions" tab on the page accessed from the following link:
