Physiology Department Research Laboratories consist of molecular physiology and cell culture laboratory, isolated organ laboratory, hemorheology laboratory, neurophysiology laboratory, behavioral experiments laboratory, molecular imaging laboratory, operating room for experimental animals and a student laboratory. Research carried out in the laboratories of the Department of Physiology covers all areas of physiology, from studies at the molecular and cellular level to the functional integration of various organ systems. In the studies carried out in our laboratories, traditional research methods and many new cellular and molecular techniques are used together to elucidate the physiological mechanisms and physiopathological basis of diseases. In our department, research studies are carried out mainly on molecular physiology, electrophysiology, neurophysiology, hemorheology, mitochondrial physiology, cardiovascular physiology, neuroendocrinology and obesity.

Studies carried out include research conducted by faculty members as well as graduate and doctorate students and academic staff who have completed their specialization and doctorate education. Multidisciplinary studies are given great importance in our department and members of the department collaborate with different departments and universities during most of the research studies. The Department of Physiology also promotes researcher-oriented student training programs that will contribute to education, scientific research and dissemination of knowledge in physiological sciences. For this purpose, summer internships are organized in the laboratories of our Department in order to support the research infrastructure of undergraduate students, especially the students of the Faculty of Medicine.
